Zawadi Beekeeping Africa is a social enterprise working with small scale sustainable beekeeping particularly with Church Organizations, CBOs, Self Help groups and individuals. Our core aim is to work with communities in Sustainable beekeeping to facilitate to realize sustainable social-economic development through modern beekeeping technology. We use Langstroth hives however, we can also use other beehives like Kenya Top Bar or traditional ones. The group aims to mitigate the effect of crop failure by especially when there is a dry spell or land that cannot support crops. We aim to enhance food security in the region through Sustainable Beekeeping.
We helped HONEYBEECARE AND AFRICA NOW to introduce the first ever langstroth hives in this area. Which means we have so many years of continued beekeeping practices.
We are based at the Village Of Hope Community Farm Training Center at Nabunulu near Matungu Subcounty, Kakamega County in Western Kenya.
The beekeeping is very important to the Village Of Hope Community Training center. Bees all over the world are threatened to be wiped away due to synthetic fertilizers use and chemicals. If this happens human beings will not be spared either. Our Community base organization is UP to save bees. Not only saving bees but training communities to earn a decent living. Beekeeping has a potential and opportunity to improve livelihood. By bringing and providing income generating opportunities.
Beekeeping enhances food security through pollination and promoting environmental conservation. Here we focus on capacity building, availability of infrastructure development. At the moment we are working with farmers from Western Province region. This area is good and favors beekeeping enterprises. It presents potential in beekeeping.
Our enterprise Zawadi Beekeeping Africa with more than 20 years of experience. We want want to continue alleviating poverty and restoring human dignity, create wealth and employment to youth especially unemployed. Our technology favors women to carry out beekeeping business. Earlier on beekeeping was the work of men but due to research now we have hives that women can comfortably work with.

beekeeping businesses. Provide langstroth hives, protective gears, smokers and other related beekeeping equipments at a surprising prices.
MARKET ACCESS
Develop market linkages beekeeping products thus honey, bee wax, propolis, royal jelly both locally and internationally.
Support the establishment of Beekeepers co-operatives to enhance bargaining power and access to market.
Promote value addition by facilitating the production of honey based products such as candles, soap and cosmetics.
PROMOTION OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONSERVATION AND BIODIVERSITY
Raise awareness about the importance bee pollination and biodiversity conservation.
Encourage the tree planting to replace the ones used in hive making and friendly crops that provide bees with forage.
Collaborate with mutual stake holders like county government with other related organizations with the local community to establish protected areas for native bee species.
Have a dialogue with policy makers on agriculture to consider burning dangerous chemicals that can make bees be extinct.
